Trick to Skip the Treats

With Halloween approaching quickly I grabbed a few ginormous sized bags of mini candies to dispense to the neighborhood kiddos. Through the years I have bought “healthy snacks” instead or bought them too early and eaten my fair share before October 31st. It was hard to control myself and then I would either wait until it was too late to grab the goodies in time or I simply bought candy that I didn’t want or like so that I wouldn’t be tempted…..until I WAS tempted.

Sugar is a real B-I-T-C-H! Luckily, I finally found the solution to kick my sugar cravings to the curb!

This legal white substance is more addictive than that illegal white substance and many other assorted substances. A highly cited study in the journal of Neuroscience & Behavioral Reviews found that sugar meets the criteria for a substance of abuse and may addictive to those who binge on it. It does this by affecting the chemistry of the limbic system, the part of brain that’s associated with emotional control.

Avoiding sugar completely seems like a close-to-impossible task but we can certainly try to do better.
